Supporting businesses and their ownership feeds his entrepreneurial spirit. In another life, he would have been what today is called a Serial Entrepreneur.
According to James, banking allows him to connect to an integral part of the economy: Business Owners. These owners impact every part of the economy as they provide most of the jobs and support within the communities they reside. Entrepreneurs provide the grease that keep our economy moving forward. He is proud to be a small part of their successes.
Banking is a second career for James. He had the privilege to be part of the Target organization, growing through their store executive ranks where he learned how to perform from “Good to Great”, a book he still references today. He also helped open several Caribou Coffee shops as Caribou went public back in 2005. These experiences in leadership guide him to see through the eyes of the business owner. He too had to work a P &L to meet profit numbers needed to be successful.
